On a completly unrelated note...

Okay, I am going to write my weekly letter first this time because I am a slug and forget to do it if I don't...

HI! How is life anywhere that isn't Atlantic Canada? Hopefully just peachy-keen!

It's been an interesting week. Nothing too special, but I will see if I can think up something interesting to write about so I don't bore everyone to death... That wouldn't be too fun.

Monday: Pday. Nothing too interesting... I took a nap. I'm an old man... Naps are about all that sounds fun on a Pday now... I am just the life of the party now. After my nap, we went out and knocked, and then visited some Former Investigators. And then we posted on Facebook... And yeah, that was about the whole of our day.. Super fun stuff.

Tuesday: I had an exchange with the Zone Leaders. So I was with one of them here in Charlottetown. He was in my MTC district, so we spent a lot of time being all weird and nostalgic about the last year... Nostalgia is gross. One of the Sister's investigators invited us over to start teaching her Husband, so he is now an investigator! That's pretty cool. He works a ton.. So it's kinda rough to pin him down for a time, but at least he wants to lean. I can work with that. (We also performed 3 blessings in a two hour time period... all to different families and people... that was crazy...)

2 year guarantee, Missionary grade shoes? I think not.... Haha

Wednesday: District meeting. It was a good district meeting... Or at least I think it was... I enjoy the meetings, but that might just be because I don't have to listen to my own trainings :P We had a lesson with a recent convert. He is such a great guy. And then we did a lot more finding though the day until it was time for the Ward Missionary Correlation meeting. 

Thursday: We spent a lot of time working at the Soup Kitchen. I love that place. The people who come to eat don't really like us, mostly because we are Mormon, but that doesn't matter, because we get along with all the other volunteers really well. After the Soup Kitchen, one of the volunteers (who also happens to be the same recent convert that we met with on Wednesday) took us out for Cow's Ice Cream. If you are ever in PEI, you need to get Cow's Ice Cream. Forget about Green Gables, just get the Ice Cream. Other than that, we just went out knocking.

Friday: We helped a less active member move his stuff out of the storage area in his apartment building's basement so that he can move out this Wednesday. That was fun. We got to talk to his brother, who was a member but is a Baptist now, and we are going to go meet with him sometime later on. That's pretty awesome. We had this really awesome experience when we were out knocking. Some guy ran up to us and asked us if we teach the Bible, and we explained to him the Bible and The Book of Mormon, and he asked us to teach him. The language barrier is a little hard, but he is a great guy. He is from China, and has only been in Canada for about a Month, but he is super sweet, and really want's to learn. 

Saturday: While we were out Street Contacting we ran into our Mission President who just happened to be visiting PEI with his wife and some of the office couples from Dartmouth. We talked to him for a minute, and he asked if he could come to the lesson we were headed to, and we let him come along. The lesson bailed on us, so we took him street contacting instead.It was his first time ever going out contacting with the missionaries. It's so awesome having a greenie Mission President. I love that man so much! We got to talk to him for a long time, and he asked our opinion about a lot of stuff he is thinking about doing in the mission. We shall see what happens. (Charlottetown might become a Biking area...)

Sunday: President and Sister Pratt spoke in church. They are awesome. Again, I will say that I love those two so much. On a completly unrelated note, there was a huge fire downtown that destoryed a couple of apartment buildings, and killed a couple of people... That wasn't so good... We fiished the night out with YSA Family Home Evening. 

So yeah, That was basically our week. Good Stuff, eh?

Oh! And PS, I got a package from Mum! She is the Best! There was actually a really cool story about that package. I was going to pick it up on Wednesday, but I decided to wait because we didn't have time. Thursday Morning we got a call from the Bishop asking us to go hunt down a Less Active member who had posted a Suicide note on Facebook. So we go to hunt him down, and after about an hour we get a call saying that the police found him and took care of him. On our way back home, we stopped in to Shoppers Drug Mart to get my package, but they said they didn't have it in their system. As we were leaving, who do we run into? The Less Active member that we were looking for! It was a small miracle, but it was awesome! We were able to set up an appointment with him, and teach him the next day. Also, the next day when we stopped in to try again for my package, it was there with no problems and they said it had been sitting there for about a week. I thought that was pretty cool.

Okay, I'm going to be a good Missionary/Son and write the blog letter/letter to mum before I write everyone else, so that I actually have time to write something!

Yeah... So it was an interesting week.... Lots going on, and yet, no so much going on at the same time..... One of those kind of weeks.... I'll see if I can remember anything interesting that happened...

Monday: Nothing overly exciting.... I bought a shirt... I couldn't help it... Ummm...

We had the Elders from Montague here for the day (they needed a place to do dry-cleaning, and Montague is out in the bush, so they had to come to Charlottetown). So that was pretty fun... Other than that, there really wasn't much going on. We did the normal missionary thing, and went knocking later in the evening, so that was exciting :P

Tuesday: Tuesday was just a TON of finding. We didn't have anything set up, so we went out to work. Yeah, that's about it for Tuesday. Exciting, right?



We didn't have a pot big enough, so we had to use a metal bowl to make our Kraft Dinner

Wednesday: We had Zone Conference in Moncton.... That was a gong-show... We were late leaving our apartment, so they Sisters had to wait for us to get to the Bridge before they could go (They had the MacPass, and we needed it to get across), so we finally showed up, and they Sister accidentally went through the wrong terminal, so we had to pay out of pocket to cross the bridge... We were not too happy about that one. We finally got to Zone Conference (almost 30 Minutes late) and everything went fine from there. Wednesday morning I was asked to be part of a Musical Number for Zone conference, so we had all of like 20 minutes to practice during lunch. We stopped and got TacoBell when we were in Moncton... It's not the same over here.... But they have Taco-Poutine! So that was super awesome! We didn't get home until almost 6:00, so after that we had a lesson with some Kind of investigators, and then meetings for the rest of the night.

Thursday: I guess the highlight of our day on Thursday was buying Toilet Paper... Nothing much else happened... We spent a lot of time out talking to people. Oh, and we worked at the soup kitchen! I love the Soup Kitchen. 

Friday: Weekly planning, gotta love it. We had a lot of lessons set up with Less Active members, but they all fell though, so that was a bit of a bummer... Not my favourite thing at all... We went and visited a member in the evening, and helped him with his talk that he is going to be giving in church. Fun stuff... That's about it for Friday.

Saturday and Sunday were just a huge blur of mission drama, and stuff that really doesn't matter, so I'm not even going to go there.... 

Yeah, so that's about how my week went. Not overly exciting...

Hello again from Sunny Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island! 

It's been a pretty good week here, and guess what, we got Transfer Letters yesterday.... Drum roll please.... For the first time in almost 8 transfers, NOTHING IS HAPPENING!!! I'm not getting transferred, my companion isn't getting transferred, we aren't getting split up, the sisters are staying put. NOTHING IS CHANGING! It's so awesome! I don't even know what to do with myself. I don't have to worry about me packing, or my comp. packing. It's so awesome! I love it!

Sometimes we actually go out and work :P

So, In other news... Lets see if I can think up some stories:

Monday: It was pretty much a normal Pday... We didn't do anything overly exciting.. Lot's and lots of laundry! So, at least I'm wearing clean clothes :P We had a supper appointment with a couple who live way out in the boonies! It was a really nice scenic drive though. They convinced us when we were leaving to take the scenic route home because "it only adds like 5 minutes to your travel time". That's a lie... More like 35 minutes... We didn't really have much time to do anything else that night. But at least it was an awesome view!

Tuesday: We did a lot of finding. We knocked, we street contacted, we called people, we went and visited Former Investigators... Basically anything we could do, we did it.  We had a lesson with a Recent Convert. He is a pretty great guy. Has a good outlook on life. After that, it was a lesson with a less active (not really less active anymore) family. And then right on back to finding.

Wednesday: District meeting, here in Charlottetown, like always. It was a good meeting, lots of great input from the District. We did a lot more finding. And then we had a lesson with one of the Sisters Investigators, that they are giving to us so we actually have someone to teach. That went alright.. We aren't sure of how committed they are right now, so I guess we will see as we keep teaching them. Then we had Correlation with the Ward Mission Leader, but he wasn't there, so it was just Correlation with the Assistant Ward Mission Leader. It was still an alright meeting though. Trying to get things rolling here.

Thursday: Thursday is our Service day. WE street contacted for a while, and then we went to the Soup Kitchen to help out for the day. The lady who runs the place is a saint. She is pretty interested in the gospel, so we are trying to set up an appointment with her. That will be great when we can. We were so late to the Supper appointment that we had... We got out of the soup kitchen late (because we were talking to the lady about setting up a time) and when we walked back to where we normally park the car, we realize that we had walked to the Soup Kitchen, and we were parked back home.... So we had to bolt back to our house (about 1.5 Kilometers away), and then the family lives way out in the bush, so it took us forever to get there.. We felt so bad!

Friday: Weekly planning, and Correlation with the Sisters.... after that all of our appointments for the day fell though, so we ended up doing a lot more finding for the day... It was pretty rough.

Saturday: I spent Saturday in Montague on an exchange with one of the Members of the district. It was kind of a last minute exchange so we left Friday night, and switched back Saturday night. I was expecting to kick back and let the other missionary lead out his area, but that wasn't really the case. So, We did lots of work, and even ran into a couple of crazy people... It was super fun!

Sunday:  Church. Great as always. We  went out and talked to a lot of people (that's kind of the reoccurring theme here, we talk to a TON of people). Then we had supper with an awesome family. It's always great to dine with Americans :P There are actually a couple of families in our ward from Utah... I don't know what drives people to move to PEI from Utah, but there are a couple here. The sisters called us and asked us to give one of their investigators and her son a blessing, so we went over and did that for them. It was incredible, the spirit was so strong there, I can't even believe it! I am so thankful that she asked us to do it!

The Ghetto air conditioner that we made (They don't have air conditioning here because you would only have to use it for 2 months out of the year, so it's not really worth it... But it's super hot and humid!)

Well, that's about it for this week... I can't think of much else going on. I will let you know if I forgot anything next week :P

Happy Montague Day! Oh, and 4th of July!

Hey hey hey! Sorry I didn't get a letter off to you last week! I had like a million emails, and I spent too much time reading that I didn't have enough time to respond! (Really, not a bad problem to have!)

It's been a pretty good week! Nothing overly exciting, but not terrible either, so I will see if I can think up anything great for you.

My new friend Toby

Monday: We started our exchange. I went to Moncton, New Brunswick for the day to work with the Zone Leader. I was super strange having an exchange on Pday....I don't like that... But, they opened up a Cabella's in Moncton, so I had to buy myself a new friend.... I am weak! His name is Toby, and I love him! Also, we went shopping at Costco in Moncton, and that was the first time I've been in a Costco in so long! It was crazy (and if you think Costco pizza and hotdogs are great, you should try Costco Poutine! It's prime!) After Pday was over, we went and actually did some missionary work. We taught a lesson, and then had a leadership skype call that the Zone Leader had to get to, so that was pretty much our day.

Tuesday: Still in Moncton... We did a lot of finding, and then taught a lesson. We had MLC with the new Mission President, President Pratt... He is pretty cool! He is super laid back! It's strange... But I like it. We finished out the night by driving down to Amherst, Nova Scotia to stay the night with the Elders there for Zone Conference in the Morning. 

Wednesday: Zone Conference in Amherst... (Oh and CANADA DAY!!!!!) That was a bad choice having it in Amherst... It's only a stage 1 building, so it's super small! trying to shove 25 companionships, plus senior couples, it was tight! It as a good training, and everyone enjoyed meeting the new mission president. After Zone Conference we drove back to Charlottetown and didn't get home until about 6:30pm... We went and taught one of the sisters investigators with them, and that went well. That was about our whole night :D

Thursday: Back to work. We put a ton of finding hours in, trying to make up for everything that I missed being out of my area for a while. It's not so much fun having no clue what is happening in your own area! But we got back on track, and life is good :D

Friday: Weekly planning. Not much to plan for, because we don't have any investigators at the moment, but we are working on it, and it is coming along. We will find people! We did lots of finding, and then had correlation with the Sisters, and then right back out to finding. The less-Active member that we were going to have a lesson with didn't show up, so that wasn't so fun... But, we aren't letting that hold us down! It's going to be great!

Saturday: Happy Montague Day! Oh, and 4th of July! We did 12 week with the new sister in the area. She is pretty solid! After that we had a pretty full day. We had lessons with a couple of less active memebers, and we taught one of the sister investigators, I guess they wanted to have the Elders Come over, so that was interesting.... The Investigators mother in law was there, and she was super contentious, and kept taking little stabs at us... I did't so much enjoy that. We finished up the night with another less active lesson.

Sunday: Church was good. I love fast Sunday's in a ward that isn't crazy! People actually know how to bear their testimony! We started a new project where we went though all of our old knocking records, and found all of the people who said they were interested, but who don't have a former record or potential record, and we are going to go talk to all of them. We found 47 addresses, so hopefully at least 1 is interested! It hasn't yielded any fruit yet, but I have faith! We finished off by going to the YSA Family home evening. The YSA are crazy! We played spoons. Or, they played spoons, while I made phone calls to my district trying to collect all of their #'s for the week... That is my least favourite part of my job!

1 exchange, 2 mental institutions, and 3 crazy people later.....

 

Alrighty, so here we are. Back to Monday..... It was quite the week... I can't even start to explain it all... I guess I will have to start from the beginning.

Monday: It was a pretty good Pday. We didn't have much to do, so we went and looked around some of the tourist shops in Charlottetown. I stoped and bought a hoodie from one of the stores.

It says "Cool as a Moose". I love it! We also stopped in to the City Hall and got Charlottetown pins to add to my collection. That was pretty much our whole Pday. That evening we had a lesson with a new investigator, and his uncle who is a member. That was fun! It's always great to have people to work with. After the lesson we drove out to New Brunswick to start our exchange with the Zone Leaders.

Tuesday: Now this is where the crazy starts. The Zone Leaders had MLC for most of the morning, so we didn't get to do much there... Afterwards we stopped by a potential investigator that the sisters gave us. He fell through, that was a little bit of a bummer. We went back to the apartment to do a little work on the Area Book, and we got a call from the Sisters saying that one of the members had called them and their wife had had a stroke about a month ago, and nobody had been there to see her. He asked if we would be able to go and to give her a blessing, and afterwards if we could stop by in the other hospital to see him and read some scriptures with him. Happily we obliged...  We went and gave the blessing (This lady was not all there.... It was weird....) and then went to find the "other hospital". Little did we know that the hospital that he was in was a mental institution.... and I mean, the kind of place where Horror Movies and Video Games take place... This place was SKETCHY! We ran into so many crazy people... Screaming, and shouting, and being insane... It was super great, ya know.... While we were meeting with the member, we kept getting interrupted by people popping in to say things, and steal bibles, and talk about how they are God... It was strange... I wasn't all too impressed... I'm glad I made it out alive! We topped off the day by having supper with the Ward Mission Leader and his family. They are great!

Wednesday: District Meeting here in Charlottetown. There was some other crazy that happened during the day, but that is a little less discussable, so sorry... After all that was done, we drove back to NB to switch back companions. On the way there we had to stop and get Cow's Icecream. It's supposed to be the best icecream in Canada. It's GREAT! We looked at the ingredients, and found out why it's super great. They use 16% milk... So basically that one icecream cone is probably the most fattening thing I have ever eaten in my life... YUM!

Thursday: Basically, we just put in tons of finding hours on Thursday. We were really behind, so we worked all day. Nothing really new to report on that one.

Friday: Weekly Planning. And chips and salsa. That is how we survive weekly planning. We had our final interviews with President Leavitt before he leaves next week. That's pretty weird. That was probably the last time I'll see him in person. Strange. We had some lessons set up, but they ducked out on us... Again, not completely a waste, because I got Tim's out of it! We finished up the night with a YSA activity. The YSA are crazy. I love them! It ended up in a USA vs Canada debate. It always does. 'MURCA! 

Saturday: Lots of finding, and we visited a couple of Less Active members. That's about it....

Sunday: Lots of finding. Church was fantastic. I love church. It's pretty much the highlight of my week now! Love it! And then back to finding. Lots and lots of finding.

Hello Hello Hello!

 I forgot to take pictures this week, So I am going to send you all the pictures that I am in from the YSA activities.

 

Last week we had a "Group Selfie" scavenger hunt for Abstract Nouns... It was pretty interesting.

"Radiant"

Another week here in sunny Prince Edward Island!!! Well.... Sunny sometimes.... More like overcast... Well.... More cloudy.... Actually it rains. A lot... But the sun doe come out sometimes! I swear it does! I think it might actually be sunny right now! 

Alright, I'm going to see if I can make up any stories to tell, I can't remember if I actually do anything interesting... Haha

Monday: It was pretty much your average P-Day.... Nothing overly exciting happened. I bought milk... It only cost like $7.30 for a gallon... So that's fun... Food here is really expensive... Especially in Charlottetown in the Summer. We get a cruise ship docking every other day, so that means a lot of people here, and a lot of money to be made in jacking up food prices... It's fun! But yeah... Other than shopping, not too much else... We went out knocking after P-Day was over... Exciting, right :P

Tuesday: We had Zone Conference in Moncton, New Brunswick. It was fun. President and Sister Leavitt's last Zone Conference... In only 2 more weeks we will be getting a new mission president! That's so weird. We had a little bit of an adventure getting to Moncton. GPS's are crazy... They like to take you out into the Boonies, where everything is in french... But we made it safely and alive, and got to see the beautiful back country of New Brunswick. 

Wednesday: It was a pretty long day. Lots of trying to contact potential investigators, and former investigators. No luck... We did some knocking and some street contacting. No luck. So, we finished up the night with a Recent Convert lesson, and then tried a potential investigator that the sisters gave to us... No luck... To top the night off we had a meeting with our Ward Mission leader. Good times all around.

Thursday: I had a Skype call with the Zone Leaders in the morning, and then spent the better part of the day out knocking, and street contacting, and talking to everyone... Nothing yet. We had a lesson with a potential investigator who is the landlord of some of the YSA members. It went really well! We talked a lot, and left him with a copy of The Book of Mormon. We weren't able to have a prayer with him, or set up a return appointment, so he isn't an investigator, but one day he will be! We finished up the night by contacting people down on the Boardwalk  (Side note: One thing I LOVE about PEI is the fact that I am right next to the Ocean ALL THE TIME! I love it! )

Friday: Weekly Planning. Got to love it. It was a pretty good day. We were able to have a lesson with 2 of our investigators! They are brothers (one of them is 15 and the other is 12). They are doing really well! We had a lesson with a less active couple, and it turned out to be a surprise dinner appointment! It was pretty great! They are such great people! They are working on coming back now. She is pretty much active, and she just went to the temple for the first time in YEARS! It's pretty great :) We had a quick lesson with an older member of the ward, but we got called out to give a recent convert a blessing, so we had to run pretty quick. That was pretty much our night.

Saturday: We had a lesson set up with a potential investigator that the Elders in Summerside gave to us. We were supposed to meet him downtown at Tim Horton's, but he didn't show... It was kind of a bummer... But on the bright side, I had Tim's for the first time in like 4 transfers! It was great! Other than that it was pretty much another long day of knocking and talking to people on the streets... I lied! I just remembered a fun story! So, we were out knocking, and we walked up to some people who were getting out of their car. One of them ran inside the house so she wouldn't have to talk to us, but the other stayed out, and we talked to her for a minute. As we were talking, I saw an iPhone pop up in the garage window. They were taking pictures of us, so that was pretty weird... But it gets weirder. As we were knocking on the next house, we heard laughing coming from the house we had just been at, so we look over, and the girl that had ran inside was now outside again... Butt naked.... It was super awkward.... So that is what people are like in the Meritimes... Haha!

Sunday: It was a pretty normal day. Church was great.  We knocked some. We gave a blessing to a less active member who is getting surgery soon. We had a supper appointment with an awesome family! And we finished up the night by going to the YSA Family Home Evening. They are super fun... And weird... But you have to love them :P As we were getting ready to leave, some crazy guy walked up to the church and started preaching to us about how God is love, and God is in all of us, and Churches are just Vanity, etc. etc. etc.... I leaned that it is pretty much a mistake to run into a group of Mormons (4 of them being missionaries) and try to preach crazy stuff... You wont walk away with your doctrine in tact... It was interesting to see. We let him pretty much have his way and then leave, but we got to teach him a little bit and offered him a copy of The Book of Mormon :P

So yeah, that was petty much my week. Fun stuff, right?

A quick update: Like I said, it's been raining a lot, so it's been really wet. That means the bugs are starting to come out. Lots and lots and LOTS of misquitoes... Its pretty bad. It's also spider season again. I have only seen little ones so far, I'm waiting for the huge ones to come back... I love telling the new greenies about the spiders here! It freaks them out so much! I love it!

Well hello again!

  

It feels like quite a while since the last time that I wrote to you guys! I sent a lot of pictures home last week, so that's about it. Yeah... Lets see if I can actually remember what happened this week, being the beginning of the transfer, I forgot my old planner, so I am totally relying on my brain... And that's really not all that reliable... So, lets see,

Monday: We had a couple of missionaries leaving Summerside, so one of the Senior Missionaries in the area decided to take us out for a little journey around the Island. We got to go see some of the major tourist attractions in the area. We traveled all of the North side of the Island, with our final destination being Cavendish Park, or as it is more commonly known back home, Green Gables. (I've never seen the movie, or read the books, so I will have to do that when I get home... It will be a little cooler now that I have actually been there!) It was a pretty good adventure! We saw a lot of the Island, and had lots of fun. Good stuff ;P

Tuesday: Yeah... I don't know what happened on Tuesday, Sorry...

Wednesday: We ended up having a surprise District meeting In Charlottetown,  It was all good though, because I didn't have to prepare a training! I just got to sit back and enjoy the meeting for the first time in almost 5 months! We had lessons with a couple of less active members, and were finally able to get in to see one of our investigators! She has been kinda slippery to get a hold of! Don't remember much more than that...

Thursday: Transfer day. I took the other Missionary leaving Summerside down to Moncton (New Brunswick) to catch the Transfer van, and so I could bring the new missionary back on to the Island.... It was all going fine and dandy, until my GPS decided that it would be much quicker to take us on a scenic tour of the New Brunswick countryside than to just take the Highway. It was nice, and I enjoyed the view, but we were a little late showing up. But we made it, and then made it back to Charlottetown just in time to drop the new Elder off with him companion, send them back to Montague, and get to work. It's so strange being in a city... I've been out in the boonies for way too long! There are actually people here! We can go street contacting! And people are homes when you knock on their doors! It's insane! I love it! Charlottetown is the Promised Land!!!!!

Friday: Weekly planning. It went longer this week because we had to figure out our transfer plan as well, but we go it done.. Other than that, lots of contacting. Lots of contacting... LOTS of contacting!

Saturday: We had a pretty open day, so what did we do? Lots of Contacting! We also helped deep clean the church, so that is always interesting. Scrubbing toilets, it's what I'm best at. 

Sunday: We had a pretty great church meeting. Fast and Testimony meeting is always a little interesting... but it was enjoyable! The ward here is pretty great! I found out that there is a lady who lives in the ward here who used to live in La Verkin, so that's pretty cool! We went to the YSA Family Home Evening, and that was fun. University students are weird... That's all I can say... They are weird, but I love them...

Yeah, so that was my week... I don't have much more to tack on to that...
