Summer was last Tuesday....

#EskasoniSelfie

Well, I guess I should get on with writing this letter!

This is probably like the millionth time I have had to write this in a letter (you know, because it happens just about every 6 weeks...) But, it's a new transfer, which means a new planner, which means that my old planner is back at home, and not loaded into my brain... So, I'll give you what I can remember from this week.
I bought a blanket for my bed... (Not to say anything about Canada or anything,
but it's the 23 of June or in other words, the third day of Summer,
and I am down to only 3 blankets on my bed. It's starting to warm up!)

So, from last Monday:

Monday: We were on exchanges in New Glasgow because it wasn't a pday. Nothing too exciting happened. We did lots of work, and ate some pizza. Not too bad if I do say so.

Tuesday: Back in Sydney. We worked for pretty much most of the day. We got transfer letters at 5:00.. Yeah, nothing happened. Everything stayed exactly the same. I'm being killed off here in Sydney. At least is is summer, and I will get to see Cape Breton in the pretty season.

I don't know if you can tell, but I love Canada...
Wednesday: Basically we spent the whole day travelling. Elder Täufer had a doctors appointment down in Fall River (It's in Sackvillle's area, near Halifax.), so we got up early to drive 5 hours down to Fall River for a 30 minute appointment, drop in to the Mission Office for a few minutes, and then drive another 5 hours back to Sydney. I do have to say it was a pretty good trip, but nothing really got accomplished.

#FuneralPotatoSelfie
Thursday: Nothing memorable happened on Thursday... Working I guess. We had institute in the evening with the Chinese Girls. that was about it.

Friday: Weekly Planning. Working. Working Working. We found a new investigator. We taught him in the park, and set up another appointment for the next day. That was pretty good. Other than that it was a pretty quiet day.
I bought a new Shirt....

Saturday: We went to an appointment with that new investigator, and he stood us up. He also gave us a bogus phone number, so we don't have any way of contacting him. So I guess, we don't have a new investigator :P After that it was back to work for the day.
Eskasoni

Sunday: Sabbath. Church was good. We had a farewell Linger-longer for the Pratt's (The Senior Couple here), that was fun. Afterwards we went out to Eskasoni for our Eskasoni Church. That was a really good time. I enjoyed it. Yeah.. That was about it for Sunday...

Sorry I'm pretty lame this week. I will try harder next week.

Love your guts,
Hove you have a great week!

Selfie of the year award

I guess I should finally get around to writing my weekly email!
#SelfieoftheYearAward

Hey der B'y! What'cha to? (that would be Newfie for, Hello, what's going on?) Life is good here on the Cape. I will see if I can think up any good stories for ya's!

Monday: It was a pretty normal Pday. I don't think we really did anything too terribly exciting. We did Visit with a family that we are teaching, she had forgotten about the appointment, and she had to go to a doctors appointment, but we set up an appointment for another day. I'm pretty sure that was about it for Monday.
I got bored while doing my laundry... Bed sheets make a nice turban

Tuesday: We started doing this really cool Book of Mormon Study as a mission, so we take an extra half hour of study time so that we can finish the study we are supposed to be doing. After studies we went out to North Sydney for try and find some Former Investigators, but, alas, no luck. We came back to Sydney for lunch, and then went street contacting for a little while. We had an appointment set up with that family, but, all the kids got sick, so we weren't able to go through with it.... It was a bit of a bummer.  After that it was whole lot of knocking on doors, and hunting people down. Doing what missionaries do, ya know?

Wednesday: District Meeting down in New Glasgow... Basically our entire day gets eaten up when we go to New Glasgow. We drive 3 hours for a 2 hour meeting and an hour of lunch, and then drive another 3 hours back to Sydney. It's a party! So, yeah that was fun. When we got back it was time for Branch Council, so we went to our meetings and when not, and then finished out the day by going out and trying to get at least a little bit of work done. It was good.

Thursday: We worked in Glace Bay for the morning. We got to do a little street contacting, and talk to a few people, so that was really nice. Afterwards we went out and found some former investigators. It's been a long time since anyone has contacted the Formers out here, so we have found a lot of dead people... That's awkward... We headed back to Sydney for Lunch, and then we were supposed to have a lesson with that family, but they fell through again.... So, back to work. We had institute in the evening, and it was a blast. We played "doge ball Battleship". It was quite interesting. Afterwards I taught the lesson, it was on the Atonement. The Atonement is seriously my favourite topic to talk about!

Friday: Weekly planning. It took a lot longer than we had hoped. We had lunch with a member at his Auto Body shop, and while we were there we ran into a couple of really.... Interesting... People. This old lady straight up told us to our face that the Book of Mormon is not the word of God, and then her husband came in and started lecturing us about how we are sinners because the bible states very clearly that men are supposed to have beards and we were both clean shaven... Crazy people! After that it was back to work. We went out to Glace Bay to work for then evening, and then had a supper appointment with some awesome members. (I attached a picture of our cheesecake :D)

The ducks didn't want the pass-along card.
Saturday: We went out to Eskasoni for the morning to do some grocery shopping for a guy out there (yeah.. that's a thing...). We got to meet some interesting people out there as well. Nothing as crazy as on Friday. After Eskasoni, we had to jet back to Sydney because we had a lesson set up with that family. Again though.... No shows... So, we didn't let it get us down, and we went back to work. Lots of knocking, street contacting, etc. If it included talking to people, we did it.

This is a pigeon that looks like a cow.
Sunday: Happy Sabbath. Our Family didn't end up coming to church like they had promised all week. The Flu is from the devil! After church we went to Branch Choir, and now is the time that I get to thank my mother (and Lori Arnold) for all those years of Piano Lessons. I may have been a butt, and didn't practice like I should have, but I'm glad I'm able to step in and play for the Choir when I need too. So, thanks Mum! (And Lori!). Well, it was fast Sunday here, so we didn't take lunch, but I was super tired, so we did take a nap... and that nap went way longer than I intended it too.. Oops... So yeah, we got to do a little work in the evening before I had to do the district leader think and collect numbers and all that Jazz.

So yeah, that was pretty much our week.

I hope you are all doing awesome!

I love your guts! Have a great week!

Happy 22 Months :D / No Moose Nielsen, the Sequel

Hello!
Out on the rocks

Well, it's been another great week here on Cape Breton Island! It's always a good time here :P I will see if I can think up some good stories to tell ya for this week:

The Skyline Trail
Monday: Pday! We were given the charge of taking our Zone Leaders around the Cabot Trail, and it was AMAZING!!! The last time we went we were a little rushed, so we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked, but this week we got to take as much time as we needed to take in all the sights. It was INCREDIBLE!!!! Sadly though, even though we went to all the places where you are "guaranteed" to see a moose, I am still "No Moose Nielsen".... I am trying my hardest to see a moose before I leave Canada, but it's just not working out too well for me... One of these days. But yeah, the Cabot Trail was our entire day. It was fantastic
Also the Skyline Trail
The stairs are not as fun on the way back up....

Over looking the Trail
Tuesday: With the ZL's already up here, we decided to do our exchange with them. I worked with one of them for half of the day, while Elder Täufer worked with the other one, and then we switched. It was quite the day. While I was working in the morning, we ran into an investigator who let us know that she is no longer interested in meeting with us (because she just got baptized into another church...), but she gave us this really awesome referral to a different lady who was super interested in hearing about The Gospel! It was pretty great! We taught her a whole lesson right on her doorstep (because we couldn't go in without a 3rd Priesthood), and she asked us for a copy of the Book of Mormon. It was pretty cool. The second half of the day was a little less eventful. We helped an older Newfie Lady put in a window AC unit (which took a ridiculously long time, but she gave us Diet Pepsi, so it's all okay... It's a Newfie thing...), and then we went out knocking. It was actually a really cool knocking session. We started a street, and then got some referrals that were close in town, so we just walked over to them, and it turned into a big adventure following the referral trail, and talking to tons of people along the way. It was pretty fun :D After the day was over, we went over to Tim's and got some hot chocolate, and then retired to bed. That was our day.

Gotta do the #selfie face
Wednesday: It was a super long day. We got up early because we had to leave our apartment at 7:00 to make it to New Glasgow for district meeting on time. It's going to be quite the trek going down there for District meeting every week. But, it will be great. Basically our whole day was eaten up with the 6 hours of travel time and the 2 hours of District Meeting and the 1 hour of lunch and all that jazz. We got home just in time to got to Branch Council and then have Correlation with our Branch Mission Leader. It was a long day of meetings. We did get to go out after our meetings and do some Home Teaching. We were just added to the Home Teaching list, and we were assigned 27 families... So that's going to keep us pretty busy.. But it was great. We got to see a good handful of people, so that was great.
This is what Donair looks like

Thursday: We had a bunch of lessons set up, but the fell through... It was a bit of a bummer.. Sorry, nothing too interesting for Thursday. Lots of finding hours though. We had a really awesome institute lesson with Margaret, that was pretty cool. She is one smart cookie! But that's about it.

Friday: Weekly Planning. A bunch of fun, ya know? After that it was another day of going out and finding.. We had supper with our normal Friday night family, I love them to pieces. That was about the extent of our day.

#selfie
Saturday: We got a call from one of the brothers in the branch asking us to come down and help him with a Project for our Branch President down in Mabu, so we threw all our plans out the window and got to go down and do some service. It was a pretty great day. Lots of Whipper Snipping (Weed Eating), and cleaning stuff up. Good times. We also had a really awesome Fireside that we put together. Some people came over from PEI (A senior couple that I served around while I was there) and they spoke, and it was FANTASTIC! I loved it so much! They called it "The Human Story of Church History" and it was great!
Sunday: Happy Sabbath! It was a great day. We had Church, and then we had to run out to Eskasoni to do Eskasoni church, and then we ran over to North Sydney to a Dinner Appointment, and then we had to run to New Waterford to dedicate some apartments. It was a long day with a lot of travel. I enjoyed it (If you were wondering, which I'm sure you weren't, we totalled about 225 Kilometres, which is about 140 Miles of travel for the day...)

Well, that was our week. It was a good one :D

I hope you all had a great week as well! I love your guts!
